In the year 1997 Thanksgiving Point was registered as a 501(c)(3) organization.

The first event to open to the public was Farm Country in 1996. Farm Country demonstrated the food supply process on a working farm. Thanksgiving Gardens was renamed Ashton Gardens in 2016 and partially opened to the public for the first time. The 55-acre gardens fully opened in 2000 to offer the community a peaceful place to visit.

The Museum of Ancient Life opened in 2010 where you could travel back in time with dinosaurs within a 30,000 square ft of dinosaur exhibits. Next came the 45,000 square ft Museum of Natural Curiosity in 2014. This family-friendly science museum has four indoor sections and a beautiful 3-acre garden.

Several years later in 2019, the Butterfly Biosphere opened. It was Utah’s first insectarium. The 10,000 square foot conservatory allows you to see exotic butterflies from all around the world as you travel along the discovery path.
