Bountiful Tennis Tournament

I went to my first tennis tournament last week with my oldest sister. I was nervous to go because I really have disliked tennis for the majority of my life and my sister played in high school and college. It was only recently that I was trying to find something I could do with my sister and she offered to teach my tennis. I gladly accepted because I thought it would be fun. I was almost completely wrong. It was a little fun, but the rest of it was stressful and wore me out. She was much better than I and I didn’t know if she even liked to play with me. So to say the least, I was not nervous. However, when we got to North Canyon Swim & Tennis Club which is right off of Oakwood Drive in Bountiful, Utah I just felt excited as I saw that there were prize bags and the food they were going to cater. I think the food was what made me most excited because it was from Nielson’s Frozen Custard which is one of my favorite places to eat in Bountiful. They have won so many awards and in my opinion, are the best in Davis County.

Our first match actually went great, and I had only cost our team a couple of points here and there. All and all I didn’t think I did that bad. My sister didn’t seem to be mad at me so that was what really confirmed it for me seeing that she was having a good time as well. We played another match and then it was time for lunch. As soon as I opened that front door I was overwhelmed with the smell of Nielsons. I was literally craving whatever food they had brought and I didn’t even know what it was, I just knew it would be good. Not to mention, their custard is the best I have ever had. I am not a huge fan of ice cream so the custard is probably my favorite dessert to grab when I am out.

Let’s just conclude that lunch was amazing and I was just about ready to take on our last two matches as soon as I let my food sit a little bit. Apparently, I didn’t let it sit long enough because I was dying in my third match. I think I missed 4 passes in a row. I could tell my sister was starting to get frustrated. I was starting to get discouraged so when the water break came it couldn’t come fast enough. I thought maybe I was just feeling sluggish because I ate so much custard and chicken, but I think I just needed water because after that break I started doing so much better. I mean I’m still not a pro, and at the end of the day I didn’t win my team the championship cup, but North Canyon Swim & Tennis Club still gave a fourth-place trophy. I didn’t know they did that, but it was so fun and such a good experience to have with my sister, even though I wasn’t great. It was just extra fun to be at such a nice club and just do my best.
