The First Dental Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends your child see a dentist by their first birthday. Or if their first tooth comes in before that, within six months of their first tooth. I know, it seems early! However, these visits help your child become familiar with the office and dentist. Plus, it lets us catch any issues early on.

Building Brushing Habits Early

Don’t wait until all those tiny teeth arrive to start brushing. As soon as your child gets their first tooth, you can start brushing those teeth and gums. Use a soft-bristled baby toothbrush with just a smear of fluoride toothpaste (about the size of a grain of rice). Have fun with it! Play a song that lasts two minutes, make funny faces in the mirror. Remember, twice a day.
