Our very first-time house hunting in Saratoga Springs was a lot of fun. I love looking at homes and dreaming of what might be.  I went to see a large home right on Utah Lake. It was gorgeous! It had a large yard that opened up to a park, the size of the home was large enough for my family, and it was pretty much perfect. Everything except the dining room and kitchen. The kitchen was so tiny, with the smallest island ever and the dining room did not have much room for our large table. I was excited to see this house and when we got there I was really disappointed in the small living space. I thought for sure this house was going to be the one. Our Realtor mentioned the bugs and mosquitos are pretty bad by the lake and once he told me that information I wasn’t as upset. The traffic also seemed pretty bad along Utah Lake since there is only a two-lane road. The house was really far south so it would take a while to commute to work. Generally, If things are meant to they usually work out. Something is bound to work out for us, I can feel it! Seeing the first house has got me really excited to have my own home again.

After looking at a few more houses we decided to go eat at the local panda express which was exactly what we needed since we were starving. After dinner, we stopped by the Rocky mountain chocolate factory for some ice cream cake and to celebrate my oldest sons birthday. He turned 13! I think he felt a little overlooked because we were house hunting on his birthday. He didn’t say anything but I had a feeling he was a little upset.

On our way home we stopped at the local gas station to fill up and I went in to use the bathroom. As I was leaving I approached a couple and politely asked if they were from Saratoga Springs, and I also asked where they lived. They looked at me really funny and probably thought I was a crazy person and trying to stalk them! I explained we were house hunting and we were trying to decide if we wanted to live there. After I explained why I was asking they laughed and were probably relieved. They told me it was a great place to live and they would recommend moving out to Saratoga Springs.

I wanted to check the town out a little more so we drove around. We saw that Saratoga Springs had everything we needed. There is a good mix of restaurants that we like. The boys were excited about Costa Vida and the Denny’s. I also noticed our Vasa Fitness was out there and our Chase Bank. They also had many fast food restaurants to choose from that are good. As far as shopping for clothes and personal items, there is a Walmart, a Ross, Maurice’s and a few other stores. The only complaint my husband had was there is not a Home Depot in sight! I did look up the nearest Home Depot and there is one 20 minutes away. I told him he’ll be fine. We love to build things and we plan on updating the home we buy so it is pretty important to be close to a Home Depot.  We had a great time on our first house hunting excursion and it was fun to start dreaming about the house we would eventually make our home.
